Chaska is a historic and well-established city on the banks of the Minnesota River. Chaska began as a stop along the river for French Canadian fur traders and the Native Americans who lived in the area. In the 1880’s, the territory was opened to settlers paving the way for new families and development. Chaska became a thriving community with friendly neighborhoods, modern businesses and the administrative center for Carver County.
Chaska’s neighborhoods offer a diverse range of housing including peaceful neighborhoods with tree-lined streets, spacious developments with private acreages, and modern communities of townhomes, condominiums, and villa homes.
Chaska offers an eclectic mix of historical and modern buildings that house unique restaurants, boutiques, and local business along with everyday conveniences including the state-of-the-art Two Twelve Medical Center. Chaska is a vibrant community which encourages its residents to experience the area in which they live through the local events, festivals, and impressive recreational venues throughout the city.
Chaska’s main downtown area is sited around a charming city park with a quaint gazebo and historic buildings. Residents and visitors alike enjoy restaurants such as the Crooked Pint Ale House which features 32 beers on tap and a menu of classic pub fare. Red Bench Bakery is a family-owned café serving French pastries, breads and desserts. Locally owned Schram Haus Brewery is a modern addition to downtown Chaska. They offer a solid line up of craft beers with a rotation of seasonal flavors, a large patio and delicious food trucks each week. Tommy’s Old Fashioned Malt Shop is a local favorite serving classic burgers and thick malts.
Chaska values it’s small-town atmosphere and celebrates its heritage every year during Chaska River City Days in July. Chaska’s community festival features live music, a parade, arts and crafts show and food vendors. Chaska is home to three premier golf courses including the Chaska Town Course which offers 285 acres of rolling greens and oak groves. The Loop at Chaska is set to open in 2022 with a new highly anticipated golf course design that will make the game accessible to all. Chaska’s Hazeltine National Golf Club was host to the 2016 Ryder Cup and the tournament will return in 2029 bringing the focus of the international golf community back to the city. Hazeltine National Golf Club isn’t the only nationally recognized sporting venue in Chaska. In 2016, the city opened the Chaska Curling Center. This modern Curling Center holds one of the largest memberships in the country and hosted the 2021 Junior National Championships. The Chaska Community Center has long been a gathering place for members of the community. The facility offers an indoor pool with water park, indoor walking track, gym, 2 ice rinks, sport courts and gathering rooms for all residents of Chaska.
