A modern city with a friendly, small-town atmosphere
Chaska is a historic and well-established city on the banks of the Minnesota River. Chaska began as a stop along the river for French Canadian fur traders and the Native Americans who lived in the area. In the 1880’s, the territory was opened to settlers paving the way for new families and development. Chaska became a thriving community with friendly neighborhoods, modern businesses and the administrative center for Carver County.
Chaska’s neighborhoods offer a diverse range of housing including peaceful neighborhoods with tree-lined streets, spacious developments with private acreages, and modern communities of townhomes, condominiums, and villa homes.
Chaska offers an eclectic mix of historical and modern buildings that house unique restaurants, boutiques, and local business along with everyday conveniences including the state-of-the-art Two Twelve Medical Center. Chaska is a vibrant community which encourages its residents to experience the area in which they live through the local events, festivals, and impressive recreational venues throughout the city.
Chaska’s main downtown area is sited around a charming city park with a quaint gazebo and historic buildings. Residents and visitors alike enjoy restaurants such as the Crooked Pint Ale House which features 32 beers on tap and a menu of classic pub fare. Red Bench Bakery is a family-owned café serving French pastries, breads and desserts. Locally owned Schram Haus Brewery is a modern addition to downtown Chaska. They offer a solid line up of craft beers with a rotation of seasonal flavors, a large patio and delicious food trucks each week. Tommy’s Old Fashioned Malt Shop is a local favorite serving classic burgers and thick malts.
Chaska values it’s small-town atmosphere and celebrates its heritage every year during Chaska River City Days in July. Chaska is home to three premier golf courses including the Chaska Town Course which offers 285 acres of rolling greens and oak groves.
